The Schynige Platte Railway in the Bernese Oberland

Schynige Platte Railway

The Schynige Platte Railway was the first rack railway that was put into operation in the Bernese Oberland, reaching an alpine peak. Having been electrified since 1914, its 7 kilometre route goes from Wilderswil to the Schynige Platte top station, where one gets an overwhelming view of the Jungfraujoch, Mönch and Eiger mountains. Not only the hiking centre but also the botanical alpine garden make this trip a very special one. In Summer you can enjoy the flair of nature combined with traditional history.
