The cathedral which was built at the beginning of the 7th century in the baroque style, following the Rule of St. Benedict, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1983, also including the library and the monastery archive. The monastery library is not only the oldest in Switzerland, but also one of the oldest and largest monastic libraries worldwide. Marvel at 2000 scripts that are kept here, 400 of which are more than 1000 years old, while enjoying the impressive surroundings.
