The Aare Gorge near Meiringen

Aare Gorge

The breathtaking Aare Gorge, which originated in the ice age from the Aare glaciers melt water, lies near Meiringen in the Bernese Oberland. This monumental natural spectacle is partly only one metre wide and up to 180 metres deep. A fully accessible footbridge that runs alongside the gorge for 1400 metres allows you to admire it. This hike is a nature experience of the most special kind and will take you approximately 40 minutes. You can access the gorge either through the western entrance (Interlaken) or through the eastern entrance (Innertkirchen).
